The BSE index gained up over 1 per cent or 200 points in early trade on Thursday to cross its key psychological level of 19,000 for the first time since October 5.

The 30-share index was up by 204.70 points at 19,046.78 or 1.08 per cent. The BSE index touched a high of 19,049.4 and an intraday low of 18,873.63 in early trade.
Whereas the Nifty was up by 56.95 points at 5,784.40, or 1.01 per cent. It touched an intraday high of 5,786.35 and an intraday low of 5,736.10 in early trade today.

The Indian market opens on a positive note on Thursday 9 August 2012. Sensex is trading 82 points up at 17682 from Wednesday's close and Nifty is at 5361, up 23 points. The BSE Midcap Index was up 0.38 per cent and the BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.21 per cent higher. CNX Midcap index is up 0.3% and BSE smallcap index is up 0.2%.

The Indian rupee fell down by 0.17% to 56.06 against US Dollar.
